In 1987, Dorothy relocated to Los Angeles and opened the Dorothy Goldeen Gallery in Santa Monica .

The exhibition program included memorable exhibitions of internationally renowned artists such as video pioneer, Nam June Paik and sculptor, Magdalena Abakanowicz. Dorothy gave the first show in the United States to esteemed Brazilian painter, Beatriz Milhazes.

Emerging artists who have gone on to critical acclaim were also showcased including Diana Thater, Jennifer Steinkamp, and Russell Crotty.
